Effective Date: August 19, 2026
Welcome to Calytix. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement made between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you”), and Calytix (“we,” “us,” or “our”), concerning your access to and use of the Calytix website, the Verdition card game, and any other media form, channel, or interactive features related, linked, or otherwise connected thereto (collectively, the “Platform”).
By accessing the Platform, you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with all of these Terms, then you are expressly prohibited from using the Platform and you must discontinue use immediately.
01About Calytix & No Partnership
tl;dr — Calytix is a solo-led independent project, not a company with employees. Nothing here creates a partnership between you and us.
Calytix is an independent creative project and the public identity behind it. The person behind Calytix (who also goes by Calytix) leads the project and operates the Platform, with help at various times from friends, commissioned contractors, and community contributors. “Calytix” in these Terms refers to the project and the person behind it, including anyone authorized to act on its behalf, and, should the project ever be formally incorporated or otherwise restructured as a business entity, its successors and assigns.
Nothing on the Platform or in these Terms creates an employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, or co-ownership relationship between you and Calytix. Community contributors whose Submissions are accepted receive only the rights, credit, and license terms described in the Contributor Rights Policy. Acceptance of a Submission does not make a contributor a member, employee, owner, or representative of Calytix, and does not entitle them to any share of revenue, decision-making authority, or liability for the project. Friends and contractors who assist with the project work under separate arrangements with Calytix and are not available through or responsible for the Platform.
Calytix is a small, independent project rather than a large studio. We commit to acting in good faith and with reasonable diligence on support requests, refunds, and submission reviews, but response times may not be immediate.
02Eligibility & User Representations
tl;dr — General users must be 13+. If you want to submit to the Submission Portal, you need to be 18+ or have verifiable guardian consent. Give us accurate info, don’t use bots, and you’re responsible for your own account.
The Platform distinguishes between two kinds of use, and the age and capacity requirements differ accordingly:
- General Users. If you are browsing, reading, or purchasing Digital Goods on the Platform, you affirm that you are at least 13 years old. The Platform is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under 13.
- Contributors. If you submit a Submission through the Submission Portal, whether or not part of a paid tier, you affirm that you are at least 18 years old, or that you have obtained verifiable permission from a parent or legal guardian to submit content and, where applicable, to make a purchase in connection with that submission. We may request reasonable evidence of that permission before accepting a Submission from a minor.
By using the Platform, you further represent and warrant that:
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and you agree to comply with these Terms of Service.
- All information you provide to us (including account, purchase, and submission information) is accurate, current, and complete, and you will keep it that way.
- You will not access the Platform through automated or non-human means, whether through a bot, script, scraper, or otherwise, except with our prior written consent or as permitted by standard search-engine crawling.
- You will not use the Platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, and your use of the Platform will not violate any applicable law or regulation.
- You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account or session, and for maintaining the confidentiality of any credentials associated with it.
03Definitions
tl;dr — Quick glossary for terms used throughout these Terms.
- “Platform” means the Calytix website, the Verdition card game and any other games, the Stories section, the Submission Portal, community channels operated by Calytix, and all related content, features, and services.
- “Submission” means any idea, character, item, mechanic, written story, or other creative material you submit to Calytix for potential integration into Verdition or the broader Calytix universe, whether or not submitted as part of a paid tier.
- “Contributor” means a user who submits, or attempts to submit, a Submission through the Submission Portal.
- “Content” means all source code, databases, functionality, software, website designs, audio, video, text, photographs, and graphics on the Platform, other than Submissions while unaccepted.
- “Marks” means the trademarks, service marks, logos, and trade names of Calytix and Verdition displayed on the Platform.
- “Digital Goods” means any digital items, features, or support tiers offered for purchase on the Platform, including paid submission slots.
04Intellectual Property Rights
tl;dr — We own the Platform and Verdition’s core universe. Accepted Submissions are licensed to us under the Contributor Rights Policy, which governs over this section for those.
Unless otherwise indicated, the Platform is our proprietary property. All Content and the Marks are owned or controlled by us or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not use, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Content or Marks except as expressly permitted by these Terms or with our prior written consent.
This ownership extends to the core mechanics, lore, original characters, items, and narrative universe of Verdition and all other Calytix-developed properties. Community-contributed elements that have been accepted and integrated are licensed to Calytix under the terms of the Contributor Rights Policy, and remain subject to the contributor’s retained rights described there.
For intellectual property rights concerning User Submissions, including what you retain, what you license to us, and how you are credited, please refer explicitly to our Contributor Rights Policy, which supersedes this general IP clause regarding user-generated additions.
You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the Platform for personal, non-commercial use. This license does not include any right to download, scrape, mirror, republish, or commercially exploit any part of the Platform.
05Purchases and Payment
tl;dr — We use third-party processors for payment. Digital Goods are final sale; rejected paid Submissions are refunded in full.
We may offer products, creator submission slots, or support tiers for purchase through the Platform. We accept payments through secure third-party processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Patreon). You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate purchase and account information for all purchases made via the Platform, and you confirm you are authorized to use the payment method provided.
- Pricing and Changes: Prices for Digital Goods and submission slots are as displayed at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to change prices, add, or discontinue offerings at any time; price changes do not affect purchases already completed.
- Creator Submissions: Payments made through the Submission Portal are subject to the rejection, revision, and refund rules outlined in our Contributor Rights Policy (Section 6), which govern over this section for Submissions specifically. In short: rejected Submissions receive a full refund; accepted Submissions are final.
- Digital Goods: All sales of Digital Goods and direct donations/support are final and non-refundable unless otherwise explicitly stated or required by applicable consumer law, including statutory withdrawal rights where they apply. Because Digital Goods are delivered immediately upon purchase, you agree that performance begins immediately upon delivery where permitted by law, and, where required by applicable consumer protection law, you expressly consent to that immediate performance and acknowledge the resulting loss of any statutory right of withdrawal.
- Billing Errors: If you are charged incorrectly due to an error on our side, contact us through the Support Portal and we will correct the error and issue a refund of any excess amount.
- Third-Party Processors: Payment disputes, chargebacks, and fraud screening are handled by the payment processors under their own terms. Initiating a chargeback for a validly delivered purchase or an accepted Submission may result in suspension of your access to the Platform and the Submission Portal.
06Prohibited Activities
tl;dr — Don’t scrape us, don’t break our security, don’t harass anyone, don’t steal our content or Submissions that aren’t yours.
You may not access or use the Platform for any purpose other than that for which we make the Platform available. The Platform may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by us in writing.
As a user, you agree not to:
- Systematically retrieve data or other content from the Platform (through scraping, data mining, or similar techniques) to create or compile a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission from us.
- Trick, defraud, or mislead us and other users, especially in any attempt to learn sensitive account information such as user passwords.
- Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Platform, including rate limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms.
- Upload or transmit (or attempt to upload or to transmit) viruses, Trojan horses, or other material designed to disrupt, overload, or harm the Platform or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to impersonate another user or person, including Calytix, friends or contractors assisting the project, or community members.
- Harass, annoy, intimidate, or threaten the person behind Calytix, anyone assisting the project, or community members.
- Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, or that promotes hate, violence, or harm against any person or group.
- Copy or adapt the Platform’s content, characters, or lore into a competing commercial product, or use Submissions you do not own in any way.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Submission Portal’s review process, including submitting material on another person’s behalf without their authority.
- Use the Platform to distribute unsolicited commercial communications, spam, or chain letters.
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to remove or restrict access to content, suspend or terminate accounts, and cooperate with law enforcement where we believe the law requires or permits it.
07Third-Party Services and Links
tl;dr — We link out to Discord, payment processors, and contributor portfolios. We’re not responsible for what happens on those sites.
The Platform may contain links or references to third-party websites and services, including Discord, payment processors, Patreon, and external portfolios. These are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party service. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies, and any dealings between you and a third party are solely between you and that party.
Community contributors may be credited with links to their personal sites or social profiles at their request. We are not responsible for the content at those destinations.
08Term and Termination
tl;dr — We can suspend or terminate access at our discretion. Licenses you’ve granted us for accepted Submissions survive termination.
These Terms of Service shall remain in full force and effect while you use the Platform. WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THESE TERMS OF SERVICE, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR LIABILITY, DENY ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE PLATFORM (INCLUDING BLOCKING CERTAIN IP ADDRESSES), TO ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION FOR BREACH OF ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY, OR COVENANT CONTAINED IN THESE TERMS OF SERVICE OR OF ANY APPLICABLE LAW OR REGULATION.
You may stop using the Platform at any time. Upon termination of your access: (a) licenses granted to you under these Terms end; (b) licenses you have granted to us for accepted Submissions survive, as described in the Contributor Rights Policy; and (c) we have no obligation to retain or make available any content or data associated with your account, except as required by law or as needed to honor accepted Submission licenses and attribution obligations.
If we terminate or suspend your access for reasons other than a violation of these Terms, we will, where practicable, attempt to notify you and, for paid Submission slots not yet reviewed, process a proportional refund.
09Modifications and Interruptions
tl;dr — We can change the Platform anytime. We’re not liable for downtime, including downtime caused by things outside our control.
We reserve the right to change, modify, or remove the contents of the Platform at any time or for any reason at our sole discretion without notice. This includes game mechanics, balance, lore, story content, and accepted Submissions once integrated, which may be reworked or adapted as described in the Contributor Rights Policy. We have no obligation to update any information on our Platform, and we will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, price change, suspension, or discontinuance of the Platform or its respective games and services.
We cannot guarantee the Platform will be available at all times. As an independent project, the Platform may experience unscheduled downtime, delayed feature work, or maintenance interruptions with limited notice. We may experience hardware, software, or other problems resulting in interruptions, delays, or errors, and we disclaim any responsibility for harm caused by such downtime, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance to the extent caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of god, natural disaster, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, internet or infrastructure failures, third-party service outages (including hosting, payment processors, or Discord), or governmental action.
10Disclaimer of Warranties
tl;dr — The Platform is provided as-is, with no guarantees.
The Platform is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the Platform will be error-free, secure, or function without interruptions, delays, or defects. We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content published on the Platform.
No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from us or through the Platform, shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms. Your use of the Platform is entirely at your own risk.
11Limitation of Liability
tl;dr — Our liability is capped, and we’re not on the hook for indirect damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Calytix, the person behind it, or anyone assisting the project be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the Platform, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. This limitation is a material basis of the bargain on which the Platform is offered.
12Indemnification
tl;dr — If your use of the Platform (or your Submission) gets us sued, you cover it.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Calytix and the person behind it from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way related to: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party; or (d) any Submission you make, including any claim that your Submission infringes the intellectual property or other rights of a third party. We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which event you will cooperate with our defense of the claim.
13Copyright Complaints & DMCA Takedowns
tl;dr — Think something on the Platform infringes your copyright? Send a formal notice to our designated agent. We’ll investigate and take it down if warranted.
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect users of the Platform to do the same. Calytix responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and comparable law in other jurisdictions.
If you believe that any content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice to our designated agent, below, or through the Support Portal. Your notice must include: identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; identification of the allegedly infringing material and sufficient information for us to locate it on the Platform; your contact information, including address, telephone number, and email address; a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
Designated Agent for Copyright Notices: Calytix, reachable at support@calytix.dev.
If you believe your Submission or other content was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification containing: identification of the removed material and its prior location on the Platform; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed in error; your name, address, and phone number; and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district (or, if outside the U.S., an appropriate judicial district) and that you will accept service of process from the complaining party.
We will investigate and remove or disable access to infringing material where appropriate. Repeat infringers will have their access to the Platform terminated.
14Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
tl;dr — California law governs. Reach out to Support first — we’d rather resolve things directly than in court.
These Terms and your use of the Platform are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall first be raised with us through the Support Portal so that we may attempt to resolve it informally in good faith. As an independent project, direct and informal resolution is strongly preferred whenever possible.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days, it shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts. Where mandatory local consumer protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction of residence, that right is unaffected.
15Changes to These Terms
tl;dr — We can update these Terms. Big changes to your rights get advance notice where we can manage it.
We may revise and update these Terms from time to time in our sole discretion. All changes are effective immediately when posted, with a revised effective date noted at the top of this page. Changes that materially reduce your rights will be accompanied by reasonable advance notice (e.g., via the Platform or official Discord) where practicable.
By continuing to access or use the Platform after changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the Platform. Licenses already granted for accepted Submissions are not retroactively altered by updates to these Terms or to the Contributor Rights Policy.
16Miscellaneous
tl;dr — Standard legal housekeeping: severability, no waiver, no assigning your rights, no third parties get to enforce this.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent; we may freely assign these Terms in connection with a transfer of the Calytix project or its assets. No third-party beneficiaries are created by these Terms, including any contributor, friend, or contractor assisting the project. The section headings are for convenience only and have no legal effect.
17Contact Information
tl;dr — Questions, legal notices, or violations: use Support Portal, Discord, or email us directly.
If you have an inquiry regarding these terms, the operations of the Platform, or wish to report a violation, please contact us through the Support Portal, via our official Discord server, or by email at support@calytix.dev. For matters directed to Calytix personally, you may also reach us at calytix@calytix.dev.
